Art History

Art history is an ideal curriculum for students who wish to investigate a broad range of humanistic disciplines. The visual arts are studied in their historical context in terms of the cultural, economic, philosophical, political, religious, social and technological conditions that determine content and form.

The art history program cultivates in each student a considered and articulated understanding of the visual arts within the context of history and contemporary culture, as well as, emphasizes critical thinking, writing and visual analysis of individual works of art. The program provides students with a thorough introduction to the visual arts of both Western and non-Western cultures throughout history.
