The intern/s will work closely with the Highland Art Center’s staff members to support and assist with collections and exhibition projects. Specific areas of focus will depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.

The intern/s will work closely with the Highland Art Center’s staff members to support and assist with collections and exhibition projects. Specific areas of focus will depend on departmental needs and the intern’s skills and interests.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with accessioning new objects into the Center’s permanent collection
- Conducting a review and inventorying objects for touch kits relating to permanent collection areas.
- Provide support to the department by assisting with administrative tasks as assigned
- Participate in the planning and execution of exhibition opening or conference and symposium
- Assist with Arts Center special events, including international summer camp and special fund raising events…
- Internships working with curators and interpretation staff to catalogue and interpret works in the art center’s collection.
- Perform research for upcoming exhibitions and engagement projects.
- Review of gallery text related to special exhibition and installations,
- Development and implementation of gallery visitor engagement initiatives
- Production of printed and digital interpretive materials
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or have completed a degree in art history, museum studies, or studio art related field
- A record reflecting an interest in traditional, historical, contemporary, modern art and material exploration related topics
- An understanding of current museum practices, museum permanent collections, and object handling and care
- Strong research, writing, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficient with computer technology and upgraded skill preferred
- Able to move objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- Able to work in outdoor weather conditions
